BATTERY TIPS
Battery Type:
- Your Viewpoint has two plug-in high-power, rechargeable NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery "packs". This type of battery resists developing a "memory".
- Each fully charged battery can deliver "up to 6 hours of non-stop operation" according to the manufacturer, AMX / PANJA.
Battery Life Expectancy:
- The manufacturer, AMX / PANJA, states that the Ni-MH batteries used in the Viewpoint will typically last one year. New batteries may be ordered by calling the Video Images Helpdesk 800-488-4336.
Charging the Battery:
- Leave a battery in the charging cradle for at least 24 hours to ensure a full charge. After recharging place the freshly recharged battery into your Viewpoint. Place the other battery in the charging cradle for recharging.
- The Recharging cradle provides a built-in battery charger and an angled desk support for your Viewpoint touch panel. When a Viewpoint is placed on the recharging cradle, the Viewpoint makes contact with the charging pins and the recharging cradle supplies direct power. The recharging cradle also contains a battery compartment to keep your spare battery charged. It takes 24 hours to completely recharge a battery in the recharging cradle without the Viewpoint resting on top.
Charging Recommendations:
- Swap batteries between the Viewpoint and the recharging cradle as soon as you see a low battery-warning message on your Viewpoint screen.
- Recharge one battery at a time with the Viewpoint resting off of the recharging cradle.
- If a Viewpoint rests on the recharging cradle the spare battery located inside the recharging cradle stops recharging.
- After the recharging cradle fully recharges a battery it stops recharging. Once recharged a battery will very gradually loose its charge even if it is still inside the recharging cradle.
- AMX / PANJA recommends that after the initial charge, the viewpoint battery may require 2 3 full charge/full discharge cycles to obtain it's full capacity.
- TIP: If your Viewpoint becomes unresponsive, locks up, or seems to be sending a weak control signal to your system --- swap the battery in your viewpoint for the fully charged spare battery stored in the recharging cradle.
Direct Power:
- If both of your Viewpoint batteries are low you may operate the Viewpoint resting on top of the charging cradle. The Viewpoint must have a battery inside even when it is being used with direct power. Note below that the Yellow indicator light on the recharging cradle means that you have good contact for full, direct power to the Viewpoint.
The Three Charging Cradle Lights (LEDs):
- YELLOW = a Viewpoint is properly connected to the recharging cradle.
- RED = a low battery is being charged inside the recharging cradle.
- GREEN = the battery inside the recharging cradle should be fully recharged.
Storage:
If you are not going to use your Viewpoint for several days or more, it is recommended that you leave it out of the charging cradle. When you are ready to use it again, swap batteries and recharge the battery in the charging cradle for at least 24 hours to ensure a full charge. After recharging swap batteries again and you will be ready to use your Viewpoint with a fully charged battery.

Echo Problems
- Reduce Your Room Volume:

- 2. You should now have the System Screen on your Viewpoint (the screen that shows your battery level under the word SYSTEM).
- 3. Press the lower right corner of the screen three times. That will reset your Gentner Echo Canceller.
Taking the Beep Sound function off of your ViewPoint.
- Some folks may not want their ViewPoint to beep after each button push, or they may want it to be louder or quieter.

What to do if your ViewPoint Controller freezes up: The Heimlich Maneuver!
- If your ViewPoint Controller freezes up (no beeps, can't change screens even after trying to replace battery) try this!
- Place your thumb on the middle of the ViewPoint Screen.
- With your thumb still in place, remove the battery from the ViewPoint.
- Thumb still in place, put a fully charged battery back in.
- Remove your thumb.
- Your ViewPoint should be unfrozen. If not, try process again or try a different battery.
MICROPHONE TIPS
- Problem - Audio Buzz.
- If you have desktop microphones that you are not using, be sure to disconnect them at the point where the XLR plug plugs into the back of the console. If you leave the cable plugged in without the micrphone attached the sites you are connected to may hear an audio buzz.
- Keep your microphone cables and mics away from your Preview Monitor or any other CRT devices.
- Lapel Microphones.
- Lapel Microphones are your best choice for a single presenter, especially when there are machine or audience noises present in a room with ceiling microphones.

VCR RECORDING TIPS
HOW DO I SET MY VCR TO RECORD A VIDEO CONFERENCE LATER ON WHEN NO ONE WILL BE AROUND? We've had requests for how to record view only broadcasts such as CyberSnax at times when staff will not be there to operate the DL System equipment.
SELECTING THE RIGHT MONITOR AND ACCESSING THE TIMER MENU
Please make sure that you have successfully recorded remote video recently before you attempt to use these Timer Recording Instructions.
- On the ViewPoint select the Preview Monitor. After correctly choosing this device on the Viewpoint, the next step would be to locate the VCR Remote Control.
- Once you have located the VCR Remote Control, be sure to have the toggle switch switched correctly to VTR instead of TV. On your ViewPoint you should still have Preview Monitor selected with a number of devices in yellow. Select VCR on the ViewPoint and hit the play button. (You can do this without actually having a tape in the VCR).
- Once you have completed this step you may see a Flashing notice to insert a tape. This is normal and also expected. The next step in the process is to press the Menu button on your VCR Remote Control, this will access the Timer Menu Settings.
TIMER RECORDING MENU OPTIONS AND TAPING PROCEDURES
Consult your ViewPoint Operator Handbook for instructions on how to play back your tape and show it on your Large Monitor.
